Summary: The scariest movie i have ever seen

I have seen many horror movies in the cinema over the last twenty years. This is without doubt the scariest i have ever seen. This movie is so sick and twisted it makes Se7en look like a Disney movie. The cast are all fantastic. The twists and turns keep you on the edge of your seat. The serial killer in this makes Hannibal Lecter seem as scary as Dora The Explorer. It;s been a long time since anyone called a horror movie a instant classic. But this is truly a classic. This is one horror movie that is not mindless blood and guts, this is clever blood and guts. People called Open Water scary it wasn't. This will cause nightmares, If you like Horror prepare to see the best. 10 out of 10.
Summary: The film of 2004

I am not an easy person to please when it comes to films. I am picky, I gripe at minor points, I'll happily rant about something for hours. So it was an incredibly nice surprise to see this low budget shocker. Having gone to the cinema on a whim, I had the choice between this or Resident Evil 2. I stand by my choice. The acting, whilst a bit shaky, seemed to fit the mood of the film. The story was inventive, the bad guy the most interesting movie villain since Se7ens murderer. In fact, probably more interesting. The camera work was amazing, using fantastic techniques to highlight panic, and the film was filled with enough misdirection to keep me guessing throughout. And then we get to the ending. Wow. I'm not sure I've seen a better ending. As I was walking to the cinema, I was even moaning about conclusions in recent films, and how difficult it is to end a story in a satisfactory manner. But then having seen this, my faith is final acts has been restored. As the credits rolled in the cinema, I was sitting there, open-mouthed, trying to comprehend what I had just seen. It took me most of the walk home, it was that good. Put simply, this is easily the best film made this year. And to not see it is an act of masochism. 10/10

Date: 18 October 2004
Summary: Intense, scary & gruesome but goes a little OTT !

Funny to see an American film come out in the UK well ahead of its US release - SAW is doing pretty well here in the UK. Starting off as a claustrophobic little horror film promises intensity and intrigue, it starts off well as a mystery, as both the viewer and the characters figure out where they are and what is going on. But when the film steps outside of its primary location - a dirty basement cellar - it tries to become a 'Se7en' style murder-mystery, going off at random tangents, introducing many new characters and spreading out its story over several locations, with images of ever-more gruesome murders, dead bodies and extreme trap situations. Some of them are clever, some scary, but others become silly and way over-the-top, both in the scenario and in the script. Anyway, it's still worth waiting around to find out what the hell is going to happen. Definitely more interesting than most horror films have been for a long time, and if you forgive the cheesy script, it's definitely worth watching although the detective part of the story lets it down (is it a horror film or a detective thriller ? - please choose one category - don't try to be both). This is also very gruesome, quite disturbing, and perhaps unique as it introduces the viewer to some disgusting images that have never been seen before in cinema. Go and see it. You may even want to see it a second time as it is crammed with a bit too much for its own liking. Would have worked better if it stayed as a tight, little claustrophobic horror film but it tries to be far more than it really is. Anyway, very ambitious and promises many more things for the director.
Date: 17 October 2004
Summary: If every year has a 'Showgirls,' 'Saw' is the prime candidate for 2004...

Saw

Awakening from a drugged stupor, Dr. Lawrence Gordon (Cary Elwes) finds himself chained to a pipe in a dingy bathroom, with another man (Leigh Whannell) in the same situation across the room. The men are the latest victims of the Jigsaw Killer, a maniac who uses elaborate traps to test his victims' dedication to life. Given six hours, a hacksaw, and a bullet, Dr. Gordon tries to figure out a way to freedom, hoping his kidnapped family (including Monica Potter) can survive the nightmare as well. Hot on the Jigsaw's trail is Detective David Tapp (Danny Glover), an equally as insane cop who was once the victim of the Jigsaw's evil scheme.

For a film about puzzles, this film sure cheats a lot.

The debut feature for writer/director James Wan, 'Saw' looks to put a little pizazz back into the stone dead horror genre with heaps of perverse visuals and a killer concept that is ripe for the taking. What we actually get with 'Saw' is a profusion of great ideas repeatedly sabotaged by Wan's catastrophically limited range as a filmmaker. Wan appears to be a student of horror legend Dario Argento, stacking 'Saw' with playful homage which genre fanatics will immediately recognize. However, outside of ghoulish black-gloved monkey business and a ripe eye for torture devices, Wan hasn't stolen enough from the maestro.

Admittedly, Argento wasn't the most reliable director in terms of injecting logic into his films, preferring style to substance. Wan's film is the opposite, electing to explain everything that can possibly be observed in any given frame during the film. The sheer amount of exposition in 'Saw' is both absurd and annoying, with the film's clunky storytelling devices (a flashback within a flashback is a favorite) routinely interrupting the pace of the film, or severing the artery of the devilish fun that should be happening. 'Saw' is relentless only in its desire to make sure the audience understands everything they are watching. This approach decimates the mystery at hand, and forces dreadfully limited actors to simply talk their way through scenes, which is not what any of them should be doing.

Wan and his co-writer (and co-star) Leigh Whannell stack the cards against themselves at the outset by only cobbling together about 5 minutes of good ideas (including a moral that was better served in 'Fight Club'), and eventually suffocating them in an effort to drag this disaster out to 100 minutes. You can sense the stretch marks all over the film, from Wan's insistence that every sequence have some type of unexplained tension, to the what-planet-are-they-from? finale, which lumbers on in its robust stupidity for an eternity.

'Saw' works like this: if a scene isn't pointless or expository, it's endless. Wan has the defense of this being his first film (which is obvious from his Gap-commercial-like shooting style), but he asks the audience to swallow quite a bit of malarkey even for a horror film. This genre doesn't usually demand much in terms of logic or common sense, but 'Saw' still seems disquietingly lacking in both.

I'm not sure it's fair to blame the cast of the film for their collective awfulness, considering that they are just carrying out Wan's clueless wishes. Still, that doesn't excuse them entirely, and if every year has a 'Showgirls,' 'Saw' is the prime candidate for 2004. If Danny Glover is hilariously bonkers, Monica Potter typically vapid, and Whannell needlessly boisterous, then I would classify star Cary Elwes's acting in the film as a peculiar amalgamation of the previous three styles. The Razzies should polish their trophy up now, because I can't imagine a worse performance this year. As the sniveling Dr. Gordon, Elwes huffs and puffs, moans and groans, and generally whimpers his way through the entire film. The actor leaves nothing to chance, infusing every movement with an acting tic, achieving a new level of amateurish performing that I've never seen him reach before.

The final crime of 'Saw' is the careless way the film ends. It should come as no surprise that for the climax, Wan pulls out every last horror trick he could think of. But to expect the audience to accept the eventual revelation behind the identity of the Jigsaw Killer is a flat-out slap in the face, summing up the immense letdown 'Saw' genuinely is. Wan had a superior premise here, and in the end, maybe he is the real Jigsaw Killer, since it is the audience that is truly made to suffer. ---- 0/10

Picking up roughly where the first 'Resident Evil' left off, 'Resident Evil: Apocalypse' continues the trials of Alice, played once again by Milla Jovovich.

Written by RE director Paul W.S. Anderson, and directed by Alexander Witt, the film diverges from the video game series' story this time and combines with elements of RE3: Nemesis for PS1 game system. Ommitted is the overall storyline for RE2 for PS1. Normally I would seek out the film makers and hand them their intestines for such alterations (I'm kind of a purist; I hate when an original story is seriously altered from its initial book, film or game format), but the writing is so tight and the action sequences and performances so good I have decided to let them live.

As the insipidly stupid employees of the sinister Umbrella Corp. seek to unravel the mystery of what happened in the underground laboratory dubbed "the Hive," S.T.A.R.S. member Jill Valentine finds herself trapped in Raccoon City as it is quarantined to prevent the spread of the deadly T-Virus. Alice is awakened from her lab-induced slumber and she finds herself wandering the streets. She is forgotten for a time as the movie's other characters are introduced.

The characters:

Alice (Milla Jovovich)
Jill Valentine (Sienna Guillory)
Carlos Oliviera (Oded Fehr; he was in the Mummy & the Mummy Returns)
Angie Ashford (Sophie Vavasseur)
Dr. Charles Ashford (Jared Harris)
L.J. (Mike Epps)
Terri Morales (Sandrine Holt)
Nemesis (Matthew G. Taylor)

Valentine holes up in a church with a bitten S.T.A.R.S. teammate and a reporter (Holt), where they are rescued by Alice--who has undergone some noticable changes sine the last film, both physically and in demeanor. She's colder, more driven than in the first 'Resident Evil.' Also stronger, faster and more agile. Once the main characters come together, they are contacted by Dr. Ashford, the creator of the T-Virus, to rescue his young daughter who is trapped in the city--alive. If the girl seems at all familiar, it's no coincidence; her face and voice were the model for the "Red Queen" computer hologram in the first movie.

Lots of carnage ensues, people die, and the final group of survivors comes together for the final battle against the Nemesis creature--which has been loosed upon the city by the film's chief villain played by Iain Glen to go after S.T.A.R.S. members.

I have to admit the film's ending seemed a tad drawn out, actually introducing a new villain in the process, but seeing as how this movie was actually filmed back to back with the third of a planned trilogy, it is to be expected. Overall, I enjoyed Apocalypse and the music was much better than in the first movie especially that used in the end credits. I give the whole thing three out of four chainsaws, mainly because the fright factor was subdued in favor of action--not a bad thing necessarily but for a horror/sci-fi not quite scary enough to rate a four.

Five teenagers returning from a trip to Mexico in the early 1970s stop to help a nearly senseless young woman on a lonely road in Texas. This version of the classic horror film presents itself as a pseudo-documentary, complete with black and white police evidence footage, of the aftermath of a day that leaves all but one of the original five dead.

The film is a slow starter, attempting to build up the relationships between the five people through a series of not terribly interesting interactions. Much like the weather during the day,the plot is langorous, hot and dirty. The viewer finds themselves almost stuck to their seat, unable to get up, even if they wanted to.

In this first part of the movie, there is not much to compliment, except some fantastic swift camera movements through a very bloody hole in someone's head and again through the hole in the back window of the group's van. Repititious, but used as a foreshadowing of violent death very well.

As the group meet the inhabitants of this particular dot in the landscape the day gets stranger and more alarming, yet the group seems to only become more confused.
This is, of course, exactly how they are so easily separated and sheparded to the kill as anyone who has watched almost any
horror movie with "Jason" or "Halloween" in the title.

Again using the weather to presage the action, it nears dark and the weather gets stormier and more violent. From here on in, the action is fast, choppy, schocking and dark. Literally. At certain points filmed inside the house, it is difficult to see exactly what is going on.

I was never so caught up in the moment that I could not have turned it off and felt that I would miss something. Visually, the movie had some very nicely done scenes. Two in particular stand out. The first is a sequence wherein one of the males is being chased by Leatherface with his chainsaw, through a set of laundry lines covered in white sheets. Knowing the young man cannot avoid the death, the symbology of the sheets as shrouds was very nice.

The second is a very strong, painful scene in which Leatherface is hanging the same young man from a meathook, applying rock salt to his wound and wrapping it in butcher paper tied with previously leftover human hair. The deftness, and business-like quality of the actions give Leatherface a genuine terror-inspiring quality that only his appearance did not quite fulfill.

A brief view of Leatherface, creating a new face, at a pedal-powered sewing machine, is gratifying and almost the only time
you see him as anything other than a killing machine.

The movie trips up in a few more places, as it includes some horror movie cliches we all wish we wouldn't see anymore. Example: A woman running full tilt through a forest at night, while looking behind her at the onrushing villan. How many times have we all screamed "Stop looking and just run, you are gonna fall down!" as the character does just that? My overall impression is that this is a movie that did not try to create a better-than-the-original, it only redid the same thing but with modern day FX to satify the more jaded theatre audience of today.

Rating: *** Rentable, not ownable, unless you find a good deal or need a complete collection. Fun, but not satisfying for long, similar to a sushi meal.

Why do we like horror movies so much? What is it that we love so much? Sure, there is a pleasant thrill from a surviving a heart stopping "BOO!" but I was wondering what else is it that brings us here?

This question has been kicking around in my head the last few weeks as I have seen a large number of movies (and discussions) posted in other places that all seem to revolve around sex. Is part of the attraction of these movies about getting off? Like that whole 70's era Lesbian Vampire genre. When I was a teen ager I really thought that was stuff (even though this was the time before affordable VCRs and I had to rely on magazines and expensive books to see the bloody, naked vampires.).

Some people really love Italian Giallo Jess Franco's films. The ones I have seen are real buffets of nastiness-castrations, raining maggots, wierd slimy zombies, etc. That can be cool or it can be stomache turning to me, depending more on my state of mind. Some people revere film makers like Dario Argento and H. G. Lewis almost as deities. One time a young man struck up a conversation with me when he saw my Faster Pussy Cat Kill Kill shirt. He had just finsihed completeing his Master's degree on Lewis.

But yet I do like John Waters's movies, although not scary they definately are not for the squeamish (I guess everyone knows that was real dog shit that got eaten in Pink Flamingos).

And violence is pretty cool too. Horror movies have given some really ghastly moments to cherish-such as the scene in Dementia 13 (I think, ought to check) when the machete hits the woman in the head and her eyes look up at the blade stuck in her cranium. Yowie, I was like 12 when I saw that. I am anxiously awaiting the release of a French film called I Am the Ripper that promises lots of all these things (from the trailer anyway)

I'd like to hear what others have to say about their own likes and loves.

Thanks

M

BTW, I just got Juon 2 The Grudge, probably my new favorite for scariest movie of all time.

I am going to write a review of this movie...I swear...I just have to get my mess of an office all straightened out...but UNTIL then...I do have a question for those that have seen the movie. Actually questions.

1) When the teenagers flee the bus (idiots) we see what happens to some of them but what about the others??? Did they disappear? Fly into some unknown fantasy world? What???

2) Again...teenagers have fled the bus. Crap - can't remember names right now...but three of them are in a pickup being chased by the Jeepers dude. The driver (I loved his character BTW) first pushes the girl out the door -- okay...what the hell happened to her???? We never see her again. She didn't die...so where did she go??? AND then...when he runs into the tree, the black teenagers is thrown from the pickup (these scene freaks me out) but we never EVER see what happens to the driver...or did we and I just missed it? Cause it pissed me off because I really did like his character.

That is all for now...I am having a horror movie marathon here -- "Jeepers Creepers 2," "Cabin Fever," "TCM," (remake), "S.I.C.K.", (I HAVE TO WATCH IT SOMETIME!!!) and "Burnt Offerings" as soon as I get done with my nap so maybe I'll get some reviews out later. Hopefully. They aren't going to be as good as the other reviews that have been written...but hopefully good enough.

Hey is it not cool to cross post? Anyway...

Thanks to all your posts on why you like horror movies. I read them with interest. There were a wide variety of reasons, some scholarly, referring to books on society and culture, others mentioned pleasant associations with friends and family (or unpleasant, but yet compelling associations). I for one tried to share the fun of a good horror movie (or even better yet, a bad horror movie) with my kids and their friends.

Many wrote about liking horror movies simply because they are exciting, like an amusement park ride (roller coasters were mentioned by some). I am sure there are many roller coaster addicts out there.

So this reminded of a time when my wife (then girlfriend) and I were visiting some of her family and friends in Boston. We were out at a fair with amusement park rides and having a great time. They wanted to go on the swinging hammers, but I didn’t. I was uncomfortable with being swung up into the air (upside down) and then rushing face first towards the ground. OF course I got ridiculed by her friend Ted who started teasing me about my lack of manhood. I looked at the ride and made sure that no one was falling out or dying from fright, so I figured I could do it and at least survive.

Having made that decision, I was actually enjoying the ride as we swung up and down, a little higher every time. As we went up over the fair grounds we reached this layer where the sounds from the ground seemed to be startlingly loud. I yelled “Hey, what’s that? Something’s wrong! We’re gonna die!” Poor Ted, in the seat behind me, began to shriek in terror. As the car made it to the top and we hung upside down over the ground, I started yelling “What’s that creaking noise?”

After the ride I threw my arms around Ted and thanked him for encouraging me to become a better man by facing my fears.

Yup, fear can be lots of fun.

Basically if you have seen a movie...talk about it...start a chat. It would be nice to have them posted seperately - a new post I mean (sorry allergy headache about to kill me) - so we can talk more about them (I don't expect a new post about the "FUN" movie of the month)...debate them, review them, etc. Just have fun with it...if you like a movie that is listed...TELL US, talk about it...if you HATE a movie listed...again, TELL US, talk about what makes you hate it so! These spiders take over a town and I remember somewhat that they were accidentally being brought in on this trucks with the hay. I watched this when I was like 8 maybe. Now - I can tell you that it is NOT "Kingdom of the Spider," (classic movie) "Food of the Gods," (1 or 2 - such horrible movies!) - ummm...okay can't think of any other horror spider movies at the moment. Oh - and the spiders weren't GIANT sized...actually were tarantulas...but to me they are HUGE! This had to be early 80's as well...made after "Kingdom of the Spiders" I think.

Being something of a sci-fi/horror movie buff, it shames me to admit that I have never seen the original 'Dawn of the Dead.' But perhaps that is for the better, for I can offer a review unencumbered by any bias favoring the original.

The film opens as the events of 'Night of the Living Dead' begin to unfold elsewhere, in a hospital where a patient being treated for a bite has mysteriously gone into critical condition. Ana, a nurse (Sarah Polley), is curious but soon puts the incident out of her mind. Heading home to her boyfriend, Ana remains oblivious to the newscasts alerting the rest of humanity to the plague outside.

A horribly disfigured zombie wakes the couple—and Mr. “Too Stupid To Recognize the Undead” is quickly dispatched and turned. Ana manages to climb out the bathroom window and into her car, escaping danger only to crash further down the road. Upon reviving, she is greeted by a police officer (Ving Rhames), and after meeting up with three other survivors—one a pregnant woman hiding a zombie bite mark—the group makes its way to the local mall. A trio of mall security guards, who reluctantly allow them to stay, greets the group and initially keeps them prisoner until a truck carrying more survivors arrives. Michael, played by Jake Weber, assumes a leadership role early on in the film along with Polley and Rhames.

As the plague of zombies unfolds, the surviving humans must fight the walking dead, and each other, in order to stay alive. Their only communication with the outside world comes in the form of a gun storeowner, who is trapped on the roof of his shop across the zombie-ridden street. The body count rises as the pregnant woman turns, driving her crazed husband to murder, and as the remaining survivors attempt to restore power.

As with the original 'Dawn of the Dead,' the new version offers insight into the struggles of human beings to maintain a semblance of normality under grossly abnormal circumstances, as well as offering a view of mob mentality taken to its most extreme form. Irony also abounds; the mall's coffee shop, at which everyone gathers, is named—quite aptly—Hallowed Grounds.

Given the overly patriotic fervor instilled in many Americans by the Bush administration’s jingoistic campaign to gain public support for invading Iraq after 9/11, the social warning against mob mentality remains as strong as when the original 'Night' and 'Dawn' played during the sixties and seventies.

Appearances by Matt Frewer as an infected father and Tom Savini as a deputy, who is shown on TV giving instructions on how to kill the creatures, make for welcome cameos. And the gruesome, hard-hitting story reminded me of 'Se7en' with its pull-no-punches strategy.

If there are any significant flaws in this movie, I have yet to find any—which speaks well of the cast and filmmakers.

Horror movie fans will undoubtedly like the new 'Dawn' as well as any other, and so to this audience the film should sell quite well. But even moviegoers not into the genre may still watch it and come away with something to think about, as well as a good old-fashioned scare.

Since I have been asked by numerous people what it takes to write and review and post it here on the Tribe I thought I would place the "rules" here - for everyone to see. If, after reading these, you have further questions feel free to email me. I will state I am looking for a couple REGULAR review writers (movies, novels, games, music, etc - all horror related obviously) whose posts will not only be on this site but the website when that is finished. I am also looking for a review writing duo...a twisted Siskel and Ebert you might say...that I will choose from all those that do reviews. Right now I am just looking for that type of duo for the movies, but most likely I will need a similiar duo for novels as well. But anyway --- onto the rules (I seriously hate this word!)!

1) A new review must be a NEW post...not an added post to some other comment.

2) Before a review is posted on the tribe site, it must be email to me at hushdarling73@msn.com so I can correct the grammical errors. I shall NEVER change the word of a review...ever...I just want the reviews to look professional. I will then email the review back to you for you to post.

3) The SUBJECT line must contain the title of the movie, book, game, etc. you are reviewing...and of course, that it is a review.

4) ANYONE can post comments about the review...so please be thick skinned about this. Some people are going to disagree with your comments and they will remark on them. It is not a personal attack...HOWEVER, if I see someone attacking another PERSONALLY for a review they have written that person will be removed from the tribe. Remember, the one rule Web of Horror has is NO FLAMING.

5) Rating system? Really don't have one worked out now...for the moment, use what you want - go by stars, thumbs, whatnot...I am trying to think of some twisted way of saying a movie is good or bad - apparently though the creatie part of my brain has leaked out for the moment.

6) Anyone reviewing movies -- this is somewhat important...the first review must be of one of the six following movies (I am hoping to see a couple reviews of the same movie -- all reviews will be posted -- so I can see the different writing styles as well as likes and dislikes of each reviewer): "Texas Chainsaw Massacre," (REMAKE) "House of the Dead," "Cabin Fever," "The Changeling," (stars George C. Scott..and I am too lazy to get the spelling right), "Jeepers Creepers 2" or "Dog Soldiers."

7) Novels...there is NO way that I can pick out a horror novel for people to review...there are too many out there. All I ask is that when you finally post the review - in the subect line not only put the title but the author of the novel.

And...for the moment that is it. Remember..if you have ANY questions email me on Tribe. If you have written a review and want to post it, please email it to me at hushdarling73@msn.com. Remember, I WILL NOT change a word of your review...just check the grammar and spelling. I just want to make that clear...I will not censor anyone on Web of Horor unless you are attacking someone else in the Tribe, but that is a different story!

Anyway, my eyes are gluing themselves shut so I am going to close out this post and wish you all a wickedly good day.

Brace yourself kiddies...but in my opinion, "The Exorcist" is absolutely the WORST horror movie ever made. It bored me, it did not frighten me and it took me three times to make it through the movie without falling asleep. So NOT scary.

I personally think they are running out of ideas or least too frighten to take a step towards something more individual, unique...with that said HOWEVER...

What is the best remake you have seen?

The worst remake you have ever seen?

And a movie you would like remade, just for the hell of it?

For me, the best remakes..."Invasion of the Body Snatchers," (1978) "JC's The Thing," "Texas Chainsaw Massacre," "Night of the Living Dead," and "Dawn of the Dead." I expect and accept the fact that the last three I will most likely be attacked for mentioning but I happen to believe the two "Dead" remakes are better then the original films and the remake of "TCM" frightened me a lot more then the original...for some reason. I am not quite sure why as of yet...have to watch it again. I do believe though...we were allowed to - in the remake - see a much more "normal" family and that was even more frightening.

The worst...oh this one is easy. "Psycho." A waste of time, energy and money - and talent (not Anne Heche either!). I didn't like the first one...definately was not going to like the remake.

As for what I would like to see remade...I personally would like to remake "The Children." A 1980 horror movie classic...well to me anyway.

I'd like to see Amityville redone. The original has some scary elements, but is ultimately too cheesy. I'd like to see it done either completely seriously or as a spoof. Maybe with Ben Stiller and Janeanne Garafalo. Possibly a musical?

"Burnt Offerings" with Karen Black. What can I say? There's just something sexy about a woman who takes the responsibilities of home ownership so seriously.

As mentioned in another thread, "The Haunting" and "The Legend of Hell House." I've always enjoyed the "10 Little Indians" premise. It makes character exposition feel a little more natural when you have strangers meeting for the first time. It also makes the human tragedy a little more profound when you have people who just met pulling together in a (ultimately futile :] ) struggle to survive. Like reality programming only, you know, good.

The Shining. Do I really need to elaborate?

And, last but not least, "Alien." Okay, not ghosts and not a house per se, but it was still a haunted house flick at its core.

I am horrific at opening letters...so please bare with me and realize that I am a true horror fanatic and would love to welcome you into this beautifully wicked web that I, and others, have created.

Web of Horror began as a Yahoo group (still is) and has expanded over the years...I felt Tribe.net would be an excellent place for more expansion. As with the other Web of Horror areas I ask but one or two...well, maybe three...things of the members upon joining. Difficult tasks they are not...that happens later. Yes, you may insert the evil cackling her. There are also few rules in Web of Horror...I mean, rules dictate our waking "real life" - they do not belong in a group such as this. So...the things that I require (or request - don't mean to sound bossy) I have listed below with the few rules that Web of Horror has. Feel free to email me if you have any questions...if not, ENJOY your evil selves!

Requirements (sounds so damn formal):

1) Tell us about yourself...name, age, and what area of the world we may find you at when we feel a need to frighten you face to face...

2) What is your ultimate favorite horror movie? Favorite horror villian? And favorite horror "hero"? Explain yourself or face the trenches surrounding our lovely blood lake filled with extremely hungry pirhana...

3) Who is your favorite all time horror author? Favorite horror novel? And perhaps...if you can recall...favorite horror novel villian and hero.

4) And PLEASE...share with us a gem of a horror movie you happened upon that left you speechless and wanting for more.

5) One more thing...favorite horror related website.

Web of Horror Rules:

Okay - I hate rules...really really do...but I have discovered inorder for things to run a wee bit smoother rules must exist. Here they are, please don't hate me and do not show up at my house with a clown or evil child in tow.

1) Absolutely NO flaming of another member or their opinion. Debates are welcomed...obviously...but when you personally attack another member it shall not be taken lightly. Everyone has a right to their opinion and I will not stand for someone going off on another person PERSONALLY because they like Freddy and you don't.

2) Try not to troll...trolls have a tendency to disappear among the active members of Web of Horror...and damn, it is always a mess to clean up...blood everywhere, bits of flesh, brain matter, ICK! And it seems to be I that always has to do the clean up.

3) You can advertise your or another horror related site, group, etc. on Web of Horror - however, that is it. NO SPAM! No porn ads...no spam relating to Viagra...this is about horror...now while you may think your manhood shriveling is a horrific thing...it is not the horror I am speaking of.

And that is it...pretty simple. Just...enjoy yourselves. Have a good time. Make friends...and yes, I do really have a cabin by the lake...next to a cornfield...lots of troll bits have been hidden here over the years. Lets hope you aren't the next in line to be pirhana bait.

Melissa

And no, I can't spell pirahna...I KNOW THIS. I will buy a dictionary SOME day.

I am curious to know which movie sequels everyone enjoys? Are there sequels out there that you happen to believe are better then the original movie? Which sequels do you think should have died before being released? The reason I was thinking about this because I was watching "Jeepers Creepers 2" for the millionth time today...YES, I LIKE this movie and wandered, how many other people like the second movie more then the first, like me. This goes for other sequels as well...but "JC 2" is the one that is popping into my head. So...speak fellow weirdos...

I really dug this movie. I didn't expect to like it, but it got to me. I like how the horror emerged from the desperation of the characters to survive and their willingness to turn on each other. It was a welcome break from the usual phantoms and motorized instinct you normally see in these films. Also, because it was a disease (albeit an outrageously deadly and fast-acting one), it felt PLAUSIBLE. People have died this way, though perhaps no so graphically or quickly.

And the leg-shaving scene? Great Kubrick's Ghost that freaked me out!
